2025-2026: "My flesh and my heart may fail but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." Psalm 73:26
No matter how strong or how capable we may feel, there are times when our strength fails. Psalm 73 reminds us that we are not perfect, that stumbling is part of every journey. There will be times when doubt creeps in and fear overwhelms us in our journey, yet the Psalmist declares with fierce conviction that HOPE endures because “God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
We will all face challenges this year: academic pressures, struggles in relationships, and personal disappointments. During these times of discouragement, it can be tempting to rely on ourselves or to find a temporary “fix” that brings temporary comfort.
Psalm 73:26 calls us back to a deeper truth: God is my strength! In Hebrew, the word strength can mean “rock” or “fortress.” God is not just my strength; He is my rock. In His presence, I find stability, security, and unshakable support. Even when life around me seems to be falling apart, He is not! God is steadfast and unshakable!
Though we may be tempted to rely on ourselves in difficult moments, can we invite God’s presence to stay with us? Can we trust that His power is made perfect in our weakness, as St. Paul reminds us?
Just look to our patron, St. John Paul II, who in the frailty of his final years showed us that God transforms suffering into strength. Like St. John Paul II, may we in our moments of vulnerability and weakness bear witness to His power working through each of us.
